Crunch Stitch AKA Moss Stitch
The combination of half double crochets and slip stitches in this pattern create a fantastic texture to help collect the grime you are trying to clean!!
This is an easy pattern that works up quickly and is lots of fun to do!! I love watching TV and crocheting in the evening while my hubby and I unwind… If you do too this it the stitch for you because it is very easy to do so you can almost just let your hands do the work by themselves (once you have the muscle memory, which takes less than 5 minutes..)
The crunch stitch ensures this dishcloth is plush and thick so you won’t end up scraping your nails on your dishes. I find that the thickness offered by this stitch is also great for holding onto some soap. Less soap going down the drain = more money in my pocket 🙂
If you like the crunch stitch for a dish cloth, you’ll love it as a swiffer pad!! Check out my pattern here.
Renewable is better… especially in cotton!!
I love the idea of using green cleaning solutions… I am often looking for ways to reduce the use of chemicals in my home and reduce our carbon footprint as well. These dish clothes are a perfect green solution because they are made to be washed so you can use them again and again! BTW cotton yarn can be washed with your regular laundry in warm water and low heat.
I have always felt that using renewable is better than using disposable… I always strive to go the green route when I can… Sometimes, I can get a little over the top with it… I even hide the paper towels so they won’t be used for anything that can handle a renewable cloth (like a spill on the counter)… My own little way to resist the disposable world we seem to be living in…
Anyway cotton is great for making renewable cleaning cloths not only because it is easy to clean, but also because it is a naturally occurring fiber so it breathes, making it much less smelly than some other options.
Not Just For Your Dishes!
This pattern works up into a cloth that is great not just for your dishes, but can be great for you too! Put one of these babies in your shower and you will see…
It is exfoliating and soft, absorbent, and doesn’t get smelly. They make a great gift!!
What other uses have you come up with for these cotton cloths?
