The Greek Goddess Wrap Crochet Pattern is a great easy pattern for a light and fun spring shawl. This free pattern has a fun texture in an easy to complete 8 row pattern repeat.
I love shawls and wraps as an accessory to my outfit. They are great for spring or fall when the weather isn’t cold enough to need a coat, but still chilly enough that you want a little something to wrap around you. They are also perfect for summer evenings, maybe gathered around the campfire.

The majority of the stitches for this pattern are basic stitches such as single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, and chain stitches. Other required stitches include front cross treble crochet stitches; this set of stitches is worked across 4 stitches. A double crochet cluster is also worked across 6 stitches. Detailed instructions for these two special stitches is provided below.
The name of this wrap comes from the colorway used to complete this wrap pattern. All colors of Lion Brand Wool Ease yarn line are inspired by Greek God and Goddesses. The colorway I used is called Hades, but I bet this shawl would look equally great in any of the others! Or use your own DK weight yarn choice to complete the pattern.

- 2 Balls of Lion Brand Wool Ease (1180 Yds of DK weight yarn)
- I 9/ 5.25 mm Hook
- Measuring Tape
- Yarn Needle

Special Stitches
Front Crossed Treble Crochet (FCTC): Worked over 4 stitches. Skip 2 sts. TC in each of next 2 stitches. TC in skipped 2 sts. Work in the reverse direction and in front of the previous TCs. See row 2 directions for photo reference.
6 Double Crochet Cluster (6DCCl): Worked over 6 stitches. (YO and insert hook in next st. YO. Pull up a loop. YO and pull through first 2 loops on hook) Repeat a total of 6 times across 6 stitches. YO and pull through all 7 loops on hook.
Pattern Notes
Gauge is only important for this wrap crochet pattern if you wish to achieve the same dimensions as I have given. You may use a smaller or larger yarn or hook to work the project but know that your finished product will be a different size that what has been provided.
If you wish to make this project longer, work in multiples of 6.
Odd rows are the Right Side (RS) of the project. Even rows are the Wrong Side (WS). I suggest wrapping a loop of yarn around a stitch on the right side. Make sure that row 5 and the repeats of row 5 are worked on the right side.
When working row 5 and all the repeats of row 5 work in the back loops only.
When working row 6, you will only be working into the DCs at the start and end of the row and in the chain spaces from the previous row. The tops of the cluster stitches from the previous row should be skipped.
Chain stitches worked at the beginning of a row do not count as the first stitch of the row. The first stitch should always be worked in the stitch right next to the chain.
For simplicity I have written this pattern with little reference to the row below. For example: if you see the direction “HDC” it is telling you to complete 1 HDC in 1 st from the previous row. The direction “SC in 2” is telling you to complete 1 SC in each of the next 2 sts from the previous row.
Start with yarn joined to hook
Row 1. FDC 210.
Alternative: Ch 212. Turn. DC in 3rd chain from hook and in each sts to end.
Row 2. Ch 2 and turn. *DC. FCTC across next 4 sts. DC. Repeat from * across. You should end on a DC.
Row 3. Ch 2 and turn. DC in first st and in each st across to end.
Row 4. Ch 2 and turn. *DC. HDC. SC in 2. HDC. DC. Repeat from * across to end.
Row 5. Work this row in BLO. Ch 2 and turn. DC. Ch 2. 6DCCl starting in same stitch as first DC and in next 5 sts. *Ch 5. 6DCCl in next 6 sts. Repeat from * across to end. Ch 2. DC in last st (same stitch as last leg of cluster st).
Row 6. Ch 2 and turn. DC. 2 DC in ch space. *6 DC in next ch space. Skip the tops of all cluster sts from previous row. Repeat from * to last sp. 2 DC in last ch 2 space. DC in last st.
Row 7. Ch 2 and turn. DC in first st and in each st across to end.
Row 8. Ch 2 and turn. *DC. Ch 1. Sk 1. DC. Repeat from * across to end.
Row 9. Ch 2 and turn. DC in first st and in each st across to end.
Row 10 – 49. Repeat rows 2 – 9 five more times. (a total of six times)
When finished with row 49 tie off. Weave in ends.

I’m working on your pattern for Greek Goddess Wrap. I’m confused about row 8. The instructions say dc, ch1, sk1, dc but the picture shows 2dc, ch1, sk1, 2dc and the row ends with 1dc. I like the way the picture looks so that’s what I’m going to do. What am I missing? Thanks
Paula, I think you are misunderstanding the repeat. You are correct, it does result in 2 DC next to each other and only 1 at the end of the row. The full repeat is *DC. Ch 1. Sk 1. DC.* There are 2 DCs in the repeat, and they do end up next to each other. If you do 2 DCs where I have written only 1, you will actually end up with 4 next to each other and 2 at the end. (plus you will have fewer of the holes made by the ch 1 space). I hope this helps and makes sense. Thank you for your comment, I would love to see your finished project 🙂 Caitlin

Do you have a video? I have just started to crochet. I’m having trouble with the fctc in row 2. I have gone to you tube but can’t find how to do this stitch. When you go back and do the tc stitch in the 2 skipped stitches. Do you do the 1st skipped stitch 1st or the second? I can’t seem to get mine to look like yours.
Michelle, Unfortunately, I do not have a video at this time. There are several videos on youtube teaching crossed treble crochet stitches, most of the videos cross one treble stitch with one treble stitch post. My pattern calls for a set of 2 crossed with 2. To work the stitch you skip the first two stitches. Work one treble crochet stitch into each of the next 2 stitches. Then you work 1 treble crochet stitch into each of the skipped stitches. So you are working a total of 4 treble crochet stitches. I’d recommend reviewing the photos while you are working the stitch. Good luck! ~Caitlin

I think I have it right…you said in your email newsletter that you use Lion’s Mandala yarn but here under materials it says Wool Ease which is not a #3 wgt uarn and also doesn’t have these colors nor is it named for gods and goddesses.So I’m betting it really is Mandala. Is that correct. It’s a great pattern by the way. I love it
Ruth, I think we may have gotten a bit mixed up. There is a mandala style yarn that is a size 3 yarn from Lion Brand, but it is also called “Wool Ease”. It is not the thick and quick most people think of. Unfortunately, Lion Brand discontinued the line since I’ve written the post. You can still find some for sale on Etsy Here. But really any size 3 yarn should give a similar result. Be sure to check your gauge if the size of the finished shawl is important to you. I hope this helps 🙂 Thank you for your comment! ~Caitlin
